The Moscow Exchange has implemented the capability to simultaneously collect exchange orders for the issuance and redemption of units of interval mutual funds (IMFs) within intervals with subsequent conclusion of trades on the Moscow Exchange.
The new functionality allows investors to buy and sell shares of interval funds through a regular brokerage account without opening separate accounts with the management company.
The first funds whose shares became available for simultaneous placement and redemption were the mutual investment funds “Sinara” and “Sinara – Currency Bonds” managed by the asset management company SGB Group “Sinara.” The funds’ securities are available on a quarterly basis at the calculated price based on the NAV of the funds. Purchases and sales of shares of these mutual funds are also available during the main trading sessions on the Moscow Exchange stock market.
The new service simplifies calculations for management companies dealing with retail mutual funds, making working with such funds easier and more efficient. Investors gain additional opportunities to manage their portfolios.
Vladimir Ovcharov, Director of the Equity Market of the Moscow Exchange:
“We are continuously working to expand the capabilities of professional participants in the collective investment market so that they can offer clients new products and services. The simultaneous submission service for requests to issue and redeem units of investment unit trusts optimizes working with them for all parties involved in the transaction, provides an additional tool for interaction with the market, and will contribute to increasing the volume of assets under management of mutual funds.”
An interval unit investment fund (UIIF) is a collective investment fund where the purchase and sale of units are made during a specific interval at fixed points in time. In the Russian market, the interval is usually two weeks and occurs once per quarter, half-year, or year.
More than 230 mutual investment funds from 44 management companies are available on the Moscow Exchange stock market. The funds’ underlying assets include indices, stocks, bonds, gold, money market instruments, and commodity assets.
