Beijing, July 13 /Xinhua/ — Recently, two batches of fresh apples weighing a total of 39.7 tons from the city of Yan’an /Shaanxi Province, Northwest China/ were successfully exported to Uzbekistan through the Khorgos border crossing /Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Northwest China/.
This is the first case of exporting Yan’an apples to Uzbekistan, which indicates new achievements made by Yan’an — an old revolutionary area of China — in supplying its characteristic agricultural products to the Central Asian market. This was reported on the website of the General Administration of Customs of the PRC.
The city of Yan’an is located in the “golden belt” of apple cultivation on the Loess Plateau. Alongside ensuring stable sales volumes of such fruits in the domestic market, local authorities are also actively exploring overseas markets, supplying them to 26 countries and regions around the world.
Central Asia is one of the key regions for trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as an important additional market for agricultural products for Yanyang.
“Our company has already started supplying Yan’an apples to Canada, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and other countries. Upon receiving an order for apple supply from Uzbekistan, we immediately turned to Yan’an Customs for assistance, as we had never dealt with the market of any Central Asian country before and were not familiar with the quarantine access standards in Uzbekistan,” noted the company engaged in agricultural development “Wanchangui” from Shaanxi Province, adding that the staff of Yan’an Customs provided them with targeted assistance to ensure the successful execution of these export operations by informing them about Uzbekistan’s quarantine requirements for imported fruits and helping them improve the traceability and quality control system of the fruits.
Since the beginning of this year, the Yan’an Customs has been actively promoting the implementation of measures aimed at supporting apple exports, providing enterprises with assistance in standardized apple cultivation and the modernization of packaging factories.
At the same time, it is making significant efforts to reduce the customs clearance time for exported apples, relying on intelligent inspection tools and opening “green corridors” for agricultural products and food supplied to the global market.
According to customs statistics, in the first half of 2026, the Yan’an Customs supervised the export of 3,196.8 tons of fresh apples, which is 89.6 percent more compared to the same period last year. -0-
