Moscow, July 10 /Xinhua/ — Russia continues to remain open to achieving its goals in the conflict over Ukraine through peaceful diplomatic negotiations. This was stated on Friday during a briefing by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov.
“Russia continues to remain open to achieving its goals through peaceful political and diplomatic negotiations. The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, maintains his openness,” said D. Peskov.
As D. Peskov emphasized, Kyiv’s strikes on civilian infrastructure and on the infrastructure of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) are extremely dangerous. Russia is in constant contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding the situation at the ZNPP and draws its attention to the inadmissibility of such actions.
“As the Kiev side attempts to escalate the /conflict/, we continue to create a wider security zone, a buffer zone,” explained the Kremlin representative.
The question of the United States’ willingness to pressure Ukraine to stop attacks on Russian infrastructure should be addressed to the White House, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation indicated.
As noted by the Kremlin spokesperson, special preparations for organizing a new conversation between V. Putin and US President Donald Trump are not necessary. “As soon as it becomes necessary, this conversation will be promptly arranged and conducted,” concluded D. Peskov. –0–
