In the first six months of 2026, passengers of the Moscow Metro made over 1.2 billion trips, which is 2% more than in the same period last year. Every day, the capital’s subway provides mobility for over 8 million people, confirming its status as one of the most intensive and in-demand transportation systems in the world.
The main passenger flow is distributed through the largest transfer hubs. The international leader in traffic volume is the Komsomolskaya hub (over 131 thousand trips per day). The top 5 also includes the transport hubs Kurskaya — Chkalovskaya (103 thousand), Paveletskaya (over 98.5 thousand), Belorusskaya (over 92.5 thousand), and Tekstilshchiki (over 85.5 thousand). The most popular lines remain the Circle Line and the Large Circle Line (LCL). Among the radial directions, the highest traffic is generated by the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya and Zamoskvoretskaya lines — a total of nearly 1.6 million trips per day.
High operational stability has been achieved thanks to the extensive expansion of the network: over 10 years, the number of stations increased from 182 to 306 (including the Moscow Central Circle), and the share of innovative trains in the fleet reached 80%.
“By the order of the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, we are systematically developing the infrastructure of the metropolis. It is important that the network reliably handles extreme loads while remaining comfortable. Thanks to the work of the Unified Dispatch Center, the accuracy of train schedule adherence is maintained at a record level for world capitals — 99.9%,” noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, Maxim Liksutov.
