Tehran, July 10 /Xinhua/ — Several explosions occurred on Thursday evening in the provinces of Bushehr and Sistan and Baluchestan in southern Iran. This was reported by the semi-official news agency Mehr.
According to the report, two explosions were heard in Bushehr and three in Sistan and Baluchestan.
Meanwhile, Iran’s official news agency IRNA quoted Mohammad-Younes Agani, the governor of Konarak County in Sistan and Baluchestan, who stated that two explosions occurred at an Iranian Navy military site in the county after it was attacked by “enemy” fighter jets.
According to him, representatives of the relevant organizations, rescue teams, and security forces were sent to the scene. An investigation into the attack is underway.
In a conversation with IRNA, the Deputy Governor of Bushehr for Political and Security Affairs, Ehsan Jahanian, said that the explosions heard in the province were caused by the “timely response” of air defense, which prevented an attack by American drones.
He added that an “enemy projectile” hit the vicinity of Bushehr Province, but there have been no reports of casualties so far.
Shortly after the explosions, CNN, citing an unnamed American official, stated that U.S. military forces “are currently not conducting strikes.” There have been no official comments from the United States so far.
These events took place against the backdrop of an exchange of strikes between the US and Iran from Tuesday evening through Thursday, marking a new escalation.
