Beijing, July 9 /Xinhua/ — The State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters of China activated the level 4 emergency response mechanism on Wednesday due to floods and a typhoon in Zhejiang and Fujian provinces in eastern China, the Ministry of Emergency Management of China reported.
The headquarters will raise the level or adjust the response measures depending on the development of the situation, the ministry noted.
According to the meteorological service, on Wednesday at 14:00, Typhoon “Bavi” was located over the waters approximately 1,490 km southeast of the city of Jilong, Taiwan.
The typhoon is expected to move westward, then turn northwest at a speed of about 15-20 km/h and may make landfall on Saturday evening in the area between the city of Fuzhou in Fujian Province and the city of Wenling in Zhejiang Province. -0-
