At the “Far East Street” exhibition, which will be held in Vladivostok from September 1 to 4 as part of the XI Eastern Economic Forum, the Magadan Region will present its opportunities for tourism and recreation development – both already implemented and prospective projects.
The exhibition organizer is the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District.
“Magadan Oblast is not just about industrial production and economic indicators. Above all, it is about brave, strong-spirited people who are open to friendship and ready to provide support. We see how the face of Magadan has changed in recent years and how the urban environment is being transformed. Visitors to the region are greeted by a new comfortable airport. The city center has been transformed by the Mayak Park, and tourists are awaited by the Talaya resort. The “Far East Street” exhibition was created so that participants and guests of the Eastern Economic Forum can learn new things about our Far Eastern territories, desire to invest in new projects, see tourist attractions and possibly decide to stay here to live,” said Yuri Trutnev, Deputy Chairman of the Government – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum.
“Today, Magadan Oblast is confidently developing its economic potential. We are increasing gold production, providing the country with valuable seafood, and setting some of the highest wage standards in the country. Our main goal is to make Kolyma a place where people want to live, work, and raise children. I invite you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of our region, to feel its power and hospitality,” said Sergey Nosov, Governor of Magadan Oblast.
Guests of the pavilion will be greeted by the interactive installation «Golden Heart» – the entry point to the pavilion, a symbol of hospitality and the navigation center of the exhibition. Through a touchscreen panel, visitors will be able to control the space: activate lighting scenarios and reveal thematic blocks. Nearby, there will be an information desk with TIC experts and tourist materials.
A sculpture called “Time” will be displayed at the pavilion. For the fifth year, a three-meter mammoth from Magadan has been adorning the Kolyma pavilion at the “Far East Street” exhibition. The sculpture “Time” made of scrap metal is a reduced copy of a five-meter monument located in Magadan on the shore of Nagaev Bay. The sculpture is unprotected by any coating and over time rusts on the salty sea coast, acquiring a reddish-brown color, which was that of the ancestor of modern elephants. The sculpture imitates the extinct imperial mammoth species. This species inhabited the area of the modern Magadan region tens of thousands of years ago. The author of the original monument is the famous Magadan sculptor Yuri Rudenko. The mammoth’s “skin” is covered with various metal parts – gears, bearings – and resembles a clockwork mechanism. The idea for this composition came to Yuri Rudenko when at one of the mines he came across mammoth bones covered with scrap metal.
The main pavilion is divided into four zones.
The “Strength of the Territory” zone tells the story of the region through the lens of harsh nature, vast distances, and strong characters. The zone is complemented by a showcase with artifacts dedicated to the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North and the development of the region. A central interactive panel controls a panoramic screen where promotional videos about the region are broadcast.
The “People of the Territory” area begins with an innovative 3D screen featuring a live presence effect. Well-known Kolyma residents “behind the glass” personally tell about Kolyma. To engage visitors to the pavilion, a game quiz on professions is offered, allowing each to try on a certain role—for example, a modern researcher or a Northern engineer.
The “Gold Territory” zone is revealed as a system—through technology, economy, and the physical sensation of value. Interactive panels showcase industrial projects. An online exchange visualizes precious metal quotations in real time. Attractions (“weight in gold”) translate the theme into a personal experience, allowing one to literally feel the weight and price of the outcome.
The “Present and Future” zone creates a personal impression of the region for visitors through technologies and routes. An immersive helicopter cabin creates the effect of flying over the Magadan Region. An interactive info kiosk allows you to assemble a personalized travel route and receive it in digital format. “Northern Health: Technological Dispenser ‘Omega-3’” is the final highlight, demonstrating the region’s care for the quality of life and the processing of marine bioresources. It symbolizes the high-tech processing of the gifts of the Kolyma sea. The Magadan Region shows how unique natural raw materials are transformed into products for health and longevity.
A jewelry and souvenir product exhibition and sale will be organized in the small pavilion. There will also be an area dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia, with an emphasis on the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North living in the Magadan region.
The installation “Lighthouse” will be placed in the small pavilion. A stylized artistic replica of the famous Magadan park “Lighthouse” serves as a visual bridge between Vladivostok and Nagaev Bay, inviting guests to experience the most recognizable public space of Magadan.
In the morning, the pavilion will be open for fitness enthusiasts: morning yoga sessions will be organized on the outdoor site. Visitors will also be invited to try their luck in the interactive attraction “Get the ingot.”
The colorfulness and originality of the Magadan region will be represented in the cultural program of the Eastern Economic Forum by soloists from the ensembles “Ener” and “Avlandya”, who will introduce forum guests to the traditions of the North and the spirit of the northern expanses. The artists are preparing new choreographic and vocal numbers that intertwine folk motifs with contemporary stage art, reflecting the authenticity and unique energy of the region. Through music and dance, the artists will tell about the life, everyday life, and heritage of the indigenous peoples and create an atmosphere of genuine immersion in the traditions of the North for the audience. Performances by Magadan artists will emphasize the richness of the cultural heritage of the Russian Far East.
This year, the Magadan Brass and Pop Orchestra will participate in the cultural program of the EEF for the first time. The ensemble will present the audience with a program consisting of recognizable and beloved melodies that will create an atmosphere of celebration and unity.
The 11th Eastern Economic Forum will be held from September 1 to 4 at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. During these days, the exhibition will be available to forum participants, and on September 5, 6, and 7, it will open to all interested visitors.
