More than 86 thousand volunteers united the environmental projects of RSHB
Over five years, the Rosselkhozbank “Ecology” Foundation has united more than 86 thousand volunteers and attracted over 204 million rubles for environmental protection projects. These results were reported by the Bank’s Chairman of the Management Board, Boris Listov. Since 2021, the Foundation has been implementing programs for forest restoration, biodiversity conservation, cleaning of water bodies and coastal areas, environmental education, and support for scientific research. During this period, more than 170 environmental events have been held across the country.
Funding for environmental initiatives is provided, among other sources, by bank clients participating in the Foundation’s charitable programs. By purchasing certificates “Plant Trees,” “Release Fry,” and “Preserve Springs,” participants direct funds towards the implementation of specific conservation projects. Initiatives can also be supported through direct donations to the Foundation.
“Environmental well-being is an important component of sustainable agriculture development and improving people’s quality of life. For Rosselkhozbank, supporting environmental initiatives is an opportunity to combine business resources and personal citizen involvement to preserve our country’s natural wealth. Over five years, the Fund has allocated more than 204 million rubles to ecological projects, held over 170 events, and united more than 86 thousand volunteers. Behind these numbers are concrete results and the contribution of thousands of people ready to act together. I thank everyone who supports our initiatives and invite new participants — both for existing and new projects of the Fund,” noted Boris Listov.
One of the Fund’s key areas of work has become forest restoration. In five years, almost 500,000 trees have been planted in 14 regions of Russia. Volunteers join the plantings, and the work is carried out with the participation of environmental specialists and specialized organizations. At the same time, forest restoration is not limited to planting seedlings: the Fund monitors their condition over three years, organizes monitoring, and cares for the young trees. Participants in the campaigns receive photo reports and can observe the results of their work.
An equally important task is the preservation of biodiversity in aquatic ecosystems. Within the framework of the “Release the Fry” project, the Foundation supports the restoration of the Baikal sturgeon population, which is listed in the Russian Red Book. Over the entire duration of the project, about 280 thousand fry of this unique endemic species have been released into water bodies. In 2026, 113 thousand were released—the largest event in the Foundation’s entire history.
Caring for water resources includes not only supporting populations of rare species but also preserving the cleanliness of rivers, bodies of water, and coastal areas. Over five years, the Foundation organized about 50 shoreline cleanups from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka, covering the largest rivers of the country, including the Irtysh, Volga, Don, Kama, Tobol, and Oka. Conservation activities took place on the coasts of the Black Sea and the Gulf of Finland, as well as on the shores of lakes and reservoirs.
Another area of activity of the Fund is environmental education, and one of the central topics has become the problem of microplastics and polymers. For this purpose, the Fund organizes themed poster sessions at universities in Moscow and other cities in Russia, which help students understand the sources of microplastics, their distribution, and impact on the environment. Additionally, the Fund has launched the informational resource “микропластик.рф”, where scientific materials are collected for a deeper study of this topic.
Over five years, the RSHB Ecology Fund has combined financial support, expert knowledge, and volunteer participation in systematic work to preserve natural resources. The Fund will continue to develop environmental and educational initiatives, attracting new participants and partners across the country.
