Beijing, October 22 /Xinhua/ — President of the PRC Xi Jinping on Thursday called for achieving new brilliant successes in the new Great March.
He made this appeal while speaking at a meeting dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the victory in the Great March of the Chinese Red Army.
“Only by remembering history can we build a brighter future,” said Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission.

He further said that the path of the Great March continuously extends forward. “In our new march, we are now striving to achieve the goal set for the centenary of the PRC of fully building a powerful modern socialist state and comprehensively advancing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization,” Xi Jinping stated.
To confidently move forward in the new Great March, it is necessary to firmly adhere to the ideals, beliefs, and goals of the party, as well as to rely steadfastly on the people in accomplishing the new great historical endeavor, Xi Jinping noted.
He emphasized the need to steadily promote high-quality development and stimulate the achievement of common prosperity for the people.
According to him, efforts must be made to better coordinate work in the field of development and security, as well as to overcome difficulties, counter risks, and meet challenges with great historical initiative.
Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of accelerating efforts to transform the people’s army into world-class armed forces and of steadfastly maintaining the absolute leadership of the Communist Party of China over the people’s army.
It is also necessary to defend party leadership, strengthen party building, and persistently promote comprehensive tightening of intra-party management, he added.
The meeting was attended by members of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang, and Li Xi, as well as the Vice President of China Han Zheng.
Zhao Leji, chairing the meeting, said that Xi Jinping’s speech holds high political, ideological, and guiding significance. It must be studied and understood carefully, as well as effectively implemented.
