In recent years, the city of Hohhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (Northern China) has been actively developing the integration of culture and tourism. Thanks to the improvement of streets and alleys, the renewal of the cityscape, and the development of new forms of business organization, century-old neighborhoods are being connected with the central commercial districts of the city. Relying on local characteristics and resources, Hohhot is creating new spaces for relaxation, shopping, and entertainment, allowing visitors to immerse themselves more deeply in the atmosphere of urban life.

One of the most characteristic old commercial quarters of the city is Kuanshanci Street, about 500 meters long. It hosts more than a hundred establishments and shops offering local gastronomic specialties. The district’s renovation was completed in 2023. Near Kuanshanci Street is the Qingkai Bridge — one of Hohhot’s historical landmarks. After the surrounding buildings were updated and colorful murals appeared, this area noticeably transformed and became a new popular spot for walks and photos among locals and tourists.
