The title of Hero of the Russian Federation was awarded posthumously to Guard Lieutenant Colonel Nariman Shikhaliyev. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. The “Gold Star” medal and the President’s certificate were handed over to the family of the deceased serviceman by the Deputy Chairman of the Government – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, Oleg Kozhemyako.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Dagestan to the President of Russia, Ruslan Nagiev, officials from the Administration of the President of Russia, and staff of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District.
“President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Vladimir Putin awarded the high title of Hero of Russia to Nariman Shikhaliyev. Nariman was my close friend, a comrade-in-arms of the commander of the legendary 155th Separate Guards Marine Brigade of the Pacific Fleet, Mikhail Gudkov. We worked together on assignments in Donbass, and Nariman’s reliable shoulder was always nearby. Nariman Shikhaliyev will forever remain in our hearts as a true defender of the Fatherland, a genuine patriot of Russia, a worthy son of Dagestan,” said Oleg Kozhemyako.
Separately, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the parents of Nariman Shikhaliyev, who came from Derbent—his father Shamsutdin Sharafutdinovich Shikhaliyev and mother Gulnaze Musaevna Gulmagomedova—for raising the hero who gave his life for the country and all its citizens.
“Family has always been a reliable support for Nariman. And the award received rightfully belongs to his family. Nariman’s life is the story of a true warrior, defender of the Fatherland, a person with a faithful and loving heart. He left a significant mark on my life and the lives of his loved ones. He became an example of selfless service to the Motherland for his comrades. In our hearts, he will live as a true hero. He took part in the special military operation from its very first day, being at the most dangerous locations. As part of the 155th Separate Guards Zhukov and Suvorov Orders Brigade of the Pacific Fleet Naval Infantry of the Russian Navy, he liberated Hostomel, stormed Mariupol, fought the hardest battles for Pavlovka, Novomykhailivka, Popasna, and drove the enemy out of the Belgorod and Kursk regions. Together with other fighters, he did everything so that our land would be cleansed of the Nazis. Nariman will remain in the hearts of friends and residents of Dagestan as a faithful son of his Fatherland,” emphasized Oleg Kozhemyako as he presented the parents with gratitude for raising a patriot of Russia.
Guards Lieutenant Colonel Nariman Shikhaliyev died in July last year in battles for the Kursk land along with Hero of Russia Major General Mikhail Gudkov.
Nariman Shikhaliyev has been awarded numerous state and regional honors, among the most significant being two Orders of Courage, the Medals “For Valor” and “For Bravery,” the Order of Valor, the Medal of the Order “For Merit to the Fatherland” II class with swords. He was also posthumously awarded the Medal “For Loyalty to Duty and Courage,” the highest title and badge of special distinction of the Primorsky Krai, “Hero of Primorye.”
