A new meeting was held at the KAMAZ Visit Center as part of the “KAMAZ 2035” series. The guest of the discussion session was the company’s chief designer, Elena Ludis, and the participants included students from KIID, KFU, KGAMT named after L. B. Vasiliev, and representatives of the city’s art schools.

The conversation was dedicated to industrial and automotive design. Elena Ludis prepared a presentation for the students. “Each of you must possess the necessary skills. Those who know more will always be in demand. A designer at a large industrial enterprise does not just draw, but creates a product taking into account its functionality, operational requirements, environmental features, and user tasks.”, – noted the speaker.

The chief designer demonstrated to the lecture participants the automotive design of future car prototypes, emphasizing that KAMAZ is a leader in heavy engineering. Students saw how KAMAZ machinery has evolved. Elena Ludis noted that she is often asked about the use of artificial intelligence in her work, and she always answers that AI is just a tool that will not replace the designer, but only assists them. The participants also discussed the professional path of a designer, the importance of education, continuous development, and finding one’s own style. They talked about how to gain experience in real projects and where to intern.

At present, students from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Kazan have undergone industrial internships at the Chief Designer Service. Internships at enterprises help to master the profession more quickly, learn to analyze tasks, work with color palettes, logos and brand visual codes, and create brand books. In addition, in 2025, the federal contest “Design of the Young” took place, whose winners now work successfully at the Chief Designer Service and KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center. At the end of the meeting, Elena Ludis wished the students success and invited them to industrial internships.
