Deputy Chairman of the Government Dmitry Chernyshenko, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Seryshev, and Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai Mikhail Kotyukov opened a new fitness and sports center, which will house the Yenisey Basketball Academy.
Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked everyone who contributed to the creation of the physical culture and sports center, especially noting the work of Governor Mikhail Kotyukov’s team.
“The Basketball Academy has received a new home, a multifunctional palace that meets and even exceeds in some aspects international standards, and can host high-level competitions. And the fact that our esteemed heroes came here and were able to interact with the kids is very symbolic. I am confident this palace will give a start in life to a large number of champions, heroes who will proudly carry the name of their homeland, the Krasnoyarsk region. Thanks to President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, all conditions are being created in our country for you to realize your potential and develop your talents,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
The sports complex creates a complete system for training basketball players in the city – from the first children’s classes to high-level competitions. Two full-size basketball courts with stands for 246 seats, a gym, a general fitness hall, and a conference room have been built here. Up to 86 people can train here simultaneously. By the 2026/2027 season, training at the center will be held for 570 students of the Yenisey Basketball Academy, as well as for the regional national teams in five age categories.
“Today is a special day. The Basketball Academy has found a new home – a space of opportunities where new generations of athletes will grow and victories will be born. Remember: great teams become such through daily training, supporting each other, and the ability to overcome difficulties,” said Anatoly Seryshev, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President, addressing the athletes.
He noted the already achieved successes of the young basketball players, their participation and victories in prestigious international tournaments, and also wished that each day spent on this court would become a step towards achieving a great goal.
“Let us remind you, the decision to build the center was made at the request of the residents: during a live broadcast, parents told the governor that children lacked modern basketball courts. The complex will operate as a family center – while the children train, the parents will be able to exercise right there,” said the governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Mikhail Kotyukov.
The center will serve as a training base for the sports reserve of the professional team BC “Yenisey.” Together with the regional center “Sputnik,” specialized sessions and educational programs for gifted children of the region will be held here. The academy will also host official interregional and all-Russian tournaments.
