Representatives of the Scientific and Technical Center of PJSC KAMAZ secured a confident victory in the industry professional skills competition “Mechatronics in Automotive Engineering 2026,” taking the top two positions on the podium. The absolute leader of the all-Russian competition was Ilnaz Yunusov, head of the design department for intelligent vehicle systems, while second place went to Aidar Gataullin, design engineer of the electronics design department.
The competition, organized by the Association “Union of Russian Automobile Manufacturers” and the Trade Union of Automobile Industry Workers of the Russian Federation, is held with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation. The competition operator is the leading scientific center in the field of automotive development in Russia – FSUE “NAMI”. Among the objectives of the professional contest are to strengthen the authority and prestige of working in the industry, to raise the level of professional competence of industry enterprise workers, as well as to stimulate motivation to solve promising production and technical tasks that have strategic significance for the development of Russia’s automotive industry.
The professional competence of the contest participants was assessed based on the results of the theoretical and practical stages. During the theoretical part, participants had to remotely design a mechatronic module in accordance with the contest task and its requirements. During the practical stage, they solved real problems. The final of the contest took place in Moscow, where the finalists first presented their “homework” presentations and then defended their practical tasks before the experts.
“For the competition task, I prepared a project for a mechatronic drive. For this, I performed calculations, selected components, and then tested the system’s operation in a computer model. This part of the work was done remotely. At the on-site stage, I presented the project to the expert commission and answered questions about the calculations, equipment selection, and simulation results. Additionally, an extra practical task was completed – to calculate the drive of a transport robot.”, – he said Aidar Gataullin.
Ilnaz Yunusov also successfully completed the same task: for a set of given initial parameters, he designed a mechatronic drive, maximizing the use of ready-made components, and defended the project before the expert committee. Moreover, it was important to handle an additional task, which ultimately determined the winners.
“The ‘defense of the ‘homework’—the project presentation—and the answers to the questions from the expert committee members took me 24 minutes. There were six experts in the committee from various enterprises and universities.”, – he said Ilnaz Yunusov. Among the experts was also a representative of KAMAZ – the head of the design and research calculations department of the R&D Center, Vladimir Karabtsev.
The results of the competition were announced at the end of last week during the ceremonial event dedicated to the industry’s Machine Building Day, organized by the “OAR” Association and the Trade Union of ASM RF workers.
The winner of the competition, Ilnaz Yunusov, received a LADA Niva Legend passenger car and a first-degree diploma as a prize. The second place winner, Aidar Gataullin, was awarded a cash prize of 300,000 rubles and a second-degree diploma.
“We were not informed of the results until the last moment. Inside, there was a storm of various emotions and experiences. What helped me achieve victory was belief in myself, in my mind, and in my strength. My motto is to never give up and to keep moving forward.”, – he said Ilnaz Yunusov.
The contest left vivid impressions, – in turn shared Aidar Gataullin. – I was nervous before the defense because I had to not only present the result but also explain to the experts why these particular solutions were chosen. I am very happy about the victory. I think thorough preparation, engineering experience, and the desire to understand the task helped me.
