The “Recognition” award from the Union of Theatre Figures of Russia was presented at the Actors’ House. The award is given once a year to only two of the best directors of amateur theaters in the country.
The winner of the “Recognition” award in 2026 in the category “For Contribution to the Development of Amateur Theatre in Russia” was director of the SPbPU Student Theater Olga Lytkina. At the K. S. Stanislavsky Actors’ House, she was awarded an honorary badge and a laureate diploma signed by the chairman of the Union of Theater Figures of Russia, Vladimir Mashkov.
For more than 20 years, Olga Lytkina has been engaged in theatrical and educational work with Polytechnic students. Freshmen come to her — they spend three months studying acting skills, another three dissecting excerpts from classical works, staging, and rehearsing. Based on the final stage of training — the exam — those who show the highest artistic results are accepted into the main theater troupe. The “Methodology for Training an Amateur Theater Actor,” developed by director-educator Olga Lytkina under the guidance of the theater’s artistic director Viktor Borisenko, has been in use for over 10 years and attracts great interest from colleagues — directors of student theaters.
At the Polytechnic Student Theater, they are discovering new horizons of development: learning to look at tasks from different angles, to listen to and truly hear their scene partners. Ultimately, thanks to the skills gained, including public speaking, overcoming fears and internal experiences, the students attain genuine sincerity and openness.
“The experience of theatrical art instills culture, forms fundamental skills that become a powerful advantage in the adult life of our children. Those who engage in theater will always find a solution to any life challenge, — Olga Lytkina is confident. — When, after some time, I see students becoming sincere on stage and fully committed to the creative process, I understand: our work is huge and important.
