On October 17, an autumn city-wide cleanup day was held in St. Petersburg. As per tradition, employees of the Committee on Science and Higher Education of our city arrived at the park of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University to take part in the campus improvement. This year, the cleanup was held as part of events dedicated to the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia.
“The ‘Good Community Cleanup Day’ in the Polytechnic University park is a long-standing and well-established tradition that allows the Committee for Science and Higher Education to cooperate with the polytechnics not only in achieving scientific and technological leadership but also to work for the benefit of our native city, making it cozier, cleaner, and more comfortable. It is gratifying that every participant of the cleanup day understands how important their contribution is to the prosperity of St. Petersburg! After all, as Governor Alexander Beglov noted, ‘together we make St. Petersburg the best city in the world.'” — noted the Acting Chairperson of the Committee on Science and Higher Education Irina Ganus.
Participants of the community workday — students and staff of SPbPU, employees of KNVSH — cleaned the area near the third academic building and also planted tulips near the monument to the fallen Polytechnic members. The tulip bulbs, as last year, were provided to the university by the CPCiO, with which the Polytechnic has a signed agreement cooperation agreement.
Military academy cadets from Saint Petersburg, participants in the special military operation, also took part in the community work day at the Polytechnic Park on Saturday. Associate Professor Ivan Kolomeytsev from the Higher School of Social Sciences emphasized: Cadets and special military operation participants have come to the community work day at Polytechnic Park more than once. They say they really enjoy taking part in socially important activities and interacting with students from other universities.
