On the second deck of the submarine “Novosibirsk Komsomolets,” there will be a creative meeting with the writer Vladimir Shigin. The author will talk about the creation of the books “Gangut,” “Chesma,” and “Kaliakria,” working with archives, and the heroes whose names are etched in the granite of naval glory.

The book “Gangut” describes the events of the Battle of Gangut, which brought the first major naval victory to the young Russian fleet in the Baltic. The novel “Chesma” is dedicated to the Mediterranean expedition of the Russian fleet from 1769 to 1774, the climax of which was the victory in the Battle of Chesma in 1770. The novel “Kaliakria” tells about the Russo-Turkish War of 1787–1791, during which naval victories were achieved at Ochakov, Fidonisi, Kerch, and Kaliakria, and Russia finally established dominance over the Black Sea.
