The “Na Trubnoy” Gallery is one of the youngest in the association “Exhibition Halls of Moscow”, subordinate to the metropolitan To the Department of Culture. It has been operating since April 2025 and specializes in domestic visual art of the 20th–21st centuries. The curators alternate projects — exhibitions of renowned masters are followed by shows of young artists, giving visitors the opportunity to reflect on the continuity of eras.
We talk about the gallery’s plans until the end of the year.
“Presence of Silence” by Alexander Dedushev
Exhibition “Presence of Silence” dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Moscow artist Alexander Dedushev. Its conceptual basis was the author’s manifesto, in which the master described the concept of silence as a special philosophical state of spiritual existence.
“Dedushev’s thought is concrete, he does not gravitate towards abstraction, but the paradox is that his paintings carry the meaning of a certain sign and are symbols of his conception of the world and of himself in this world. He has an exalted notion of the emerging painting, and he does not want it to become mundane, but to turn into a treasure, an ornament of life, unique and unrepeatable,” wrote art critic Viktor Lipatov about the artist.
The exhibition “Presence of Silence” features works from recent years — painting, graphics, and sculpture created in a recognizable artistic style. For Alexander Dedushev, working on each piece involves reaching a state of utmost concentration, where a dream crystallizes and begins to live its own life. The canvases and sculptures focus on the state of existential contemplation. They demonstrate that art reveals itself where feeling is more precise than any definition, and experience becomes both an end in itself and a guide to the essence of things.
The plots and characters of Alexander Dedushev — people, birds, angels — are seen through the lens of a dream-memory, sometimes unprecedented and entirely fictional. The light that fills his paintings shapes the space of an enchanted world of illusion. His works are characterized by the melting, sfumato outlines of landscapes and drifting, barely recognizable faces. The minimalism of artistic means creates the necessary silence that is hard to describe — it must be felt.
Alexander Dedushev’s painting is textured and rich in color, while his sculpture is almost white, romantic, and refined — the author’s technique gives it an extraordinary lightness. The artist works with graphics using the sgraffito technique: by scratching the paper, he achieves the effect of the sheet’s inner glow.
At the curator’s excursions Guests will be told in more detail about the artist’s iconic works, as well as about his creative manifesto. The exhibition can be viewed until October 27.
Alexander Dedushev has been a member of the Moscow Union of Artists since 1991 and has participated in more than 100 exhibitions. In 1995, as part of a group of independent nonconformist artists, he took part in the Berlin project Hotel Estrel and created several paintings and over 40 graphic sheets for it. Alexander Dedushev’s works are held in the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, AZ Museum, the funds of the Moscow Exhibition Halls Association, and other cultural institutions, as well as in private collections in Russia, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, and the USA.
Moscow holidays by Evgeny Khaldei
The exhibition “Evgeny Khaldei. Moscow Celebrations” will be dedicated to the capital — the peaceful, creative life of the city in the 1930s and the post-war period.
Evgeny Khaldei became famous as a war photographer — from 1941 to 1945, with a Leica III camera, he traveled from Murmansk to Berlin, participated in the liberation of Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Austria, and Hungary, captured the signing of the German surrender and the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow on June 24, 1945. But at the exhibition in the “Na Trubnoy” gallery, the world-renowned author of the “Victory Banner” will appear as a chronicler of peaceful creation and the triumph of the spirit. The exhibition will combine legendary masterpieces and rare shots that depicted Moscow as a symbol of the unity of a vast country and the friendship of peoples. The pavilions of VDNKh from the 1930s, the buildings under construction of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, grand parades on Red Square, athletic festivals at the Dynamo stadium — Evgeny Khaldei’s lens transformed the historical chronicle into a portrait of the capital, a common home for millions of people.
Despite the monumental nature of the works, the photographer’s focus always remains on the individual. The master depicted the capital through the lens of genuine hope, capturing a new generation of children who had never known war, students, avid readers on park benches, and enthusiastic chess players on the boulevards. In these vivid faces and everyday scenes lies the image of Moscow as a city of a “fulfilled future,” where every moment is illuminated by faith in a better tomorrow.
The exhibition will open on October 30, tickets will be available for purchase through the service Mosbilet.
The Magi and Christmas
In December, the “Na Trubnoy” gallery will be preparing for one of the most important winter holidays — the exhibition “The Journey of the Magi” will open here, a philosophical parable-reflection about a miracle. Its participants, young Moscow artists, will reflect on the path of a person from darkness to light — because at Christmas everyone is a bit of a magus. To continue quoting this famous poem by Joseph Brodsky, the main mechanism of Christmas is that the almighty God comes into the world in the form of an infant — helpless, defenseless, in need of human love and care. And it is in this image that the value of mercy is revealed, a new hope for salvation — and the inevitability of a miracle.
Exhibition participants will pay attention not only to the moment of Christmas itself, but also to what precedes it. The Old Testament, the old world, the world of law, fear, expectation, fatigue, and dead-end questions has exhausted itself — it stands on the threshold of transformation. The artists will take as a basis the image of the journey toward hope — like the Magi following the star. The theme will be a journey through the old world to the new, almost a road movie: the Magi walk, observe, and become involuntary explorers of contradictions. Each work in the exhibition will not be an illustration of Christmas, but a fragment of what was seen on the way — a memory of what will soon have to be let go. And the final point of the journey is the warm light of the cave and the manger, where the hope of the whole world for salvation is contained.
The exhibition is planned to open on December 10, and tickets will become available in the service. “Mosbilet”.
As part of the campaign “Moscow Museum Week” The gallery “Na Trubnoy” can be visited for free on October 18 — you will only need to register ticket using Mos ID. Both a full and a standard account will do.
