The Red Army Gorge in Banma County of the Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is a memorial site of revolutionary history, located on the only section of the Long March route that passed through Qinghai. In 1936, during the Long March, the Red Army traveled through the Zymudagou Gorge in Banma County, establishing friendly relations with the local Tibetans. In memory of the Red Army soldiers, the local residents renamed this place the Red Army Gorge. Valuable revolutionary monuments are preserved here, including the Red Army Bridge and the Red Army soldiers’ tomb.
In Banma County, they carefully preserve the spirit of the Great March, paying special attention to environmental protection in the area of the three river sources (Yangtze, Yellow River, and Lancang River), strengthening the ecological barrier in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, and further developing urban and rural infrastructure. These efforts contribute to improving the living standards of the population, enhancing the ecological environment, and strengthening national unity on the snowy plateau, providing a worthy response to the challenges of the era.
