President of Russia Vladimir Putin held a video conference meeting dedicated to issues of enhancing the level of digital security in the country. The Mayor of Moscow took part in the meeting Sergey Sobyanin.

“We all clearly understand that the sustainable development of the state and society largely depends on the active implementation of digital technologies. We are systematically and consistently building and forming a digital framework for the economy and social sphere: we actively spread services based on artificial intelligence technologies, advanced approaches are being implemented in the storage, processing, and transmission of data, as well as communication tools, and the economy is becoming platform-based,” Vladimir Putin noted in his introductory remarks.

The coordinating role in this work is played by the Commission under the President of the Russian Federation on the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies and the interdepartmental working group on the development of digital economy ecosystems and digital platforms.

As Vladimir Putin clarified, Russia is consistently strengthening its sovereignty today in all areas — from basic food and energy security to digital infrastructure.

“At the same time, it is obvious that with the development of digitization, against the backdrop of direct and hybrid external aggression that we are facing, cyber threats to the economy, logistics, transport, social sphere, life support systems, and government administration are reaching a new level,” said Vladimir Putin.

The President of Russia noted that to neutralize these threats, it is necessary to improve all components of the domestic digital security system, including risk assessment and analysis, mechanisms for monitoring dependence on external platforms, as well as tools for rapid response to cyberattacks. In addition, coordination of actions among law enforcement agencies and special services with telecommunications operators, financial organizations, internet companies, and other structures needs to be enhanced.
