Since the beginning of the year, 10 trade and service facilities have been built in the capital. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Vladimir Efimov.
“Thanks to new retail outlets, jobs are being created, business is developing, and the urban environment is improving. Commercial and household facilities make neighborhoods more attractive and convenient for residents; they allow solving many everyday tasks close to home. Since the beginning of 2026, 10 shopping centers have been built across eight districts of the capital. All of them were erected using off-budget sources of funding. The greatest number of buildings — three — appeared in the actively developing Kommunarka,” said Vladimir Efimov.
Shopping centers within residential areas provide Muscovites with necessary retail and service facilities within walking distance. On one site, there can be stores, dining establishments, cinemas, sports facilities, and household service points. Such infrastructure allows residents to receive essential services without long trips across the city.
Permissions for commissioning the facilities were issued by Mosgosstroynadzor.
“The committee specialists accompanied the construction of the shopping complexes at all stages — from the start of work, the inspectors conducted about 100 site inspections in total, during which they assessed structural reliability, cladding quality, engineering systems, and landscaping. Based on the results of comprehensive final activities, conclusions were drawn regarding the compliance of the buildings with the approved project documentation,” noted the chairman of Mosgosstroynadzor.
Thus, in the Khoroshevo-Mnevniki area in the northwest of Moscow, the “Gallery Ostrova” shopping center was built with a total area of over 16.8 thousand square meters. The first two floors house shops, restaurants, coffee shops, entertainment and service zones. In the underground part, a supermarket and parking for 67 cars were arranged. The facades were made of natural stone, aluminum composite panels, and stemalit in beige-brown shades. The adjacent territory was landscaped: pedestrian areas were paved with granite, a dry fountain and designer landscaping were created. The entrances were equipped with tactile tiles for visually impaired people.
