On Father’s Day, October 18, in 10 cinemas of the “MosKino” network, which are subordinate to the capital Department of Culture, there will be free screenings of the legendary Soviet film by Yevgeny Karelov, “Children of Don Quixote,” from 1965.

The film won the audience’s love and became a classic of Soviet cinema. The story about obstetrician-gynecologist Petr Bondarenko was recognized as one of the most poignant acting performances by Anatoly Papanov, who played the lead role. At the center of the plot is a modest head of a department at a maternity hospital in Moscow, whom his close ones nicknamed Don Quixote for his naive faith in people, selflessness, heightened sense of justice, and willingness to help anyone. Together with his wife, plastic surgeon Vera Petrovna, they raise children who were once abandoned at the maternity hospital. All three sons are seeking their own paths, but they are united by a desire to help people selflessly. This is what they inherited from their father. Alongside family concerns, Dr. Bondarenko solves delicate human problems at work, helping young parents and persuading mothers not to abandon their newborns.

The screenings will take place at the cinemas “Kosmos,” “Iskra,” “Vympel,” “Mars,” “Neva,” “Rassvet,” “Elbrus,” “Sputnik,” “Saturn,” and “Zhukovsky.” Admission is free. Registration is required pre-registration.

The Moscow film cluster consists of infrastructure facilities, services, and support for filmmakers, developed by Government of Moscow as part of the “Moscow — City of Cinema” project. Its structure includes the “Moskino” film park, Gorky Film Studio (sites on Sergei Eisenstein Street and in Valdaysky passage), the “Moskino” film plant, the “Moskino” cinema network, the film commission, and the “Moskino” film platform.

The program of events in the city cinemas of “Moskino” contributes to the implementation of the goals and objectives of the national project in Moscow “Family”. More details about Russia’s national projects and the capital’s contribution can be found at special page.
