Four specialized KAMAZ K4940 dump trucks based on the KAMAZ-65201-B5 chassis were handed over to LLC “Air Gates of the Northern Capital” – the management company of Pulkovo International Airport in Saint Petersburg.
The equipment supplier was the official dealer of PJSC KAMAZ in St. Petersburg – LLC “Avtocenter Obukhovo”. The KAMAZ K4940 model purchased for the needs of Pulkovo Airport is heavy equipment of the K3 generation, designed for transporting bulk cargo under challenging operating conditions. The dump truck is a balanced solution and is optimal where high performance, off-road capability, and the ability to handle cargo prone to freezing together are required.
The dump truck with an 8×4 wheel formula has a load capacity of 32.5 tons and is equipped with a 25-cubic-meter rectangular-section platform with rear unloading. The high performance of the machinery is ensured by a modern 390 hp engine (Euro-5), paired with a 16-speed manual transmission. For reliable operation in difficult road conditions and off-road, the special vehicle is equipped with reinforced 16-ton drive axles, as well as inter-wheel and inter-axle differential lock systems (IWL and IAL), guaranteeing excellent cross-country capability. The fuel tank capacity is 350 liters.
Taking into account the specifics of operation during the winter period, the KAMAZ K4940 vehicle has received an effective platform heating system that prevents wet sand, gravel, or soil from sticking to and freezing on the body. There is a spare wheel holder, as well as an aerodynamic visor that reduces air resistance and protects the windshield from dirt. Special attention is paid to driver comfort: the restyled cabin is equipped with a standard air conditioner, an autonomous heater, and a sunshade (curtain) for sun protection.
