The sixth season of the competition starts on October 13 “You know? Teach me!”. Schoolchildren aged 6 to 18 will talk about science in 3 minutes, have the chance to receive prizes and extra points when applying to RUDN University. The contest allows them to present themselves as future young scientists, showcase their talents as science popularizers, and demonstrate their projects and ideas.
“Over the past 5 years, the ‘Do You Know? Teach!’ competition has become one of the highlights of the Decade of Science and Technology, declared by our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. In short video clips, the participants demonstrate that science can be accessible and engaging for people of all ages. This year, the competition is held across 6 categories – from scientific experiments and original inventions to the mining and metallurgical industry of the future and technologies for the city. Shoot videos and take part!” – noted Deputy Prime Minister, co-chair of the coordination committee of the Decade of Science and Technology Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The popular science video contest “Know? Teach!” brings together schoolchildren aged 6 to 18 who are interested in science, technology, and content creation. Participants will need to prepare their own video lasting from 1 to 3 minutes and publish it on the website nauchi.nauka.rf. When creating the video, students can independently choose a mentor who will help bring the scientific idea to life in an interesting and understandable format.
Video submissions will be accepted until March 2027. The results of the 6th season of the competition will be published in April 2027. Winners can look forward to exciting trips, modern equipment, and additional points for RUDN University applicants.
“Over the five seasons of the competition, participants have already created more than 12 thousand videos. This year, we have new partners and categories. The participants can choose a topic according to their scientific and creative interests. For example, they can talk about technologies that make life in our cities more comfortable and food healthier and of higher quality, present modern solutions for the extraction and processing of mineral resources, conduct their own scientific experiment, or even present their own invention.”– commented Sofia Malyavina, General Director of the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization “National Priorities”.
Young researchers can submit their videos in 6 thematic categories:
· “Invent and Explain” (All-Russian Society of Inventors and Rationalizers). This category accepts videos about personal inventions or technical solutions that help improve conventional processes.
· “Coal Around Us” (company “Elgaugol”). Schoolchildren who choose this category to participate will need to record videos about the role of coal in human life in the past and today: how it was used in ancient times, where it appears in everyday life, and what unusual properties it has.
· “Scientific Experiment” (All-Russian Public-State Movement of Children and Youth “The Movement of the First”). Participants in this nomination need to demonstrate an experiment related to a school subject and explain the scientific principle behind it.
· “Food: Science from Field to Plate” (agroholding “Komos Group”). The thematic focus of the nomination is the creation of food products – from the cultivation of agricultural raw materials to the production of the finished product that reaches the consumer’s table, as well as the role of healthy nutrition in a person’s life.
· “Mining and Metallurgical Industry of the Future” (PJSC “Mining and Metallurgical Company Norilsk Nickel”). To participate in this nomination, you need to record a video in which you must explain how mineral extraction and processing are organized, what technologies are used in modern mining and metallurgical industries, how mining, metallurgical, and digital solutions work, and where they are applied.
· “A City Comfortable for Everyone” (guild “Borders of Science”). To participate in the nomination, it is necessary to record a video about how modern technologies and solutions make cities more convenient and comfortable.
Prize places in each of the 6 nominations will be awarded in three age categories: junior, middle, and senior school. Thus, 18 winners of thematic nominations in three age categories will be determined among 54 finalists, as well as the best mentor, the best school, and the best region. All winners, including the best mentor and best school, will be invited to the awards ceremony.
In addition, there are special nominations for “Best Mentor” and “Best School.” Their partners are RUDN and the M. Gorky Film Studio. The best mentor and best school will be recognized based on whose students submit the most video entries to the contest. The third special nomination is traditionally the “Marathon of Regions,” where the top 5 regions with the most participating children and active support for the contest’s information campaign will be awarded.
