In Yakutsk, the solemn closing ceremony of the IV International Tournament in army high-precision shooting in memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Fyodor Matveevich Okhlopkov was held, where the results were summed up and the best shooters, including juniors, were awarded.

This year, at the suggestion of the Deputy Chairman of the Government – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, chief judge of the tournament Yuri Trutnev, competitions for young shooters were held for the first time.

The ceremony was attended by the head of Yakutia Aysen Nikolayev, Hero of Russia, Deputy Minister of Defense, Army General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District Roman Alisenov, and Hero of Russia, Hero of the DPR, Chairman of the Russian Combat Sniping Federation, Deputy Chief Judge of the tournament Yaroslav Yakubov.

“I sincerely congratulate all participants. Special congratulations to the champions, because we saw remarkable shots. The results that were champion-level in the first and second tournaments today are almost commonplace for each participant of the fourth tournament. And the record set — 3 km in daytime shooting — can already be considered worthy anywhere, because 3 km under Yakutia conditions at this range has never been shot before,” emphasized Aisen Nikolayev.

“A tournament of this level, as well as all types of military-applied disciplines, especially shooting ones, requires the highest dedication. And I want to thank the organizers and personally the head of Yakutia, Aysen Nikolayev, for the unwavering support of the fourth tournament in a row. Today the best snipers in the country have gathered here—professionals with enormous experience who not only compete but also learn from each other and pass on knowledge to the younger generation, the kids from the ‘Warrior’ center. The scale and distances of the training ground are impressive: we plan to use this experience when creating a world-class sniper school and shooting center in the ‘Patriot’ park. On behalf of the Minister of Defense, I congratulate the participants. Here, not only the prize places are important: working in a sniper pair is the highest level of combat coordination, and everyone who has gone through this path is already a winner,” noted Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

The Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, Roman Alisenov, expressed words of gratitude on behalf of the Deputy Chairman of the Government – Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, the chief judge of the tournament, Yuri Trutnev. “Let me remind you that about 75 participants came to the first tournament, and today there are almost 190. If in the first tournament the best result was 2,000 m and it then seemed that this was the limit, today we see the championship shot of the Yakovlev brothers already at 3,000 m. It is gratifying that the record of the Sulus shooting range belongs to Yakut shooters. Equally important is that civilian shooters competently compete with representatives of special services. This indicates an exchange of experience and overall improvement in skills. And that means our country is becoming stronger,” emphasized Roman Alisenov.

During the ceremonial event, the results of the competitions were summarized and the winners in two key stages of the tournament, “Day” and “Night,” were awarded.
