The Moscow Museum of Modern Art invites you to an author-led tour by Vladimir Prokhorov of the exhibition “Stitches, Hooks, and the Red Thread.”

Together with the curator, participants will take a look into the “open wardrobe” of art history and analyze the hidden meanings of familiar things. Guests will learn how clothing in the works of masters of the 20th–21st centuries transformed from a household item into a marker of character and the spirit of the times, what meanings are hidden in “stitches” and “hooks,” and how the theme of the wardrobe connects different generations of artists.

The tour will provide an opportunity to decode the language of contemporary art, to see the exhibition through the eyes of its creator, and to ask questions.

The exhibition “Paths, Hooks, and the Red Thread” presents works by renowned artists — from paintings to installations — where garments help to understand the individual and their era. It is a reflection on clothing in art from the 20th to early 21st century based on the collections of MMOMA.
