The government has decided to partially lift the ban on diesel fuel exports from Russia.

The decision was made in accordance with the agreements between Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States President Donald Trump. It comes into effect on October 10 and will allow sending 500 thousand tons of diesel fuel to the global market at this stage.

In accordance with the adopted decision, Russian oil companies, in coordination with the Government, will immediately begin contracting diesel fuel supplies with foreign counterparties.

“This decision will not affect the interests of Russian consumers. Diesel fuel in Russia is produced from Russian oil at domestic refineries. The production volumes allow for full supply to both the domestic market and exports in the specified quantities to the global market,” noted Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

For reference

In Russia, from January 31, 2026, a ban on the export of diesel fuel was in effect, which applied only to non-producers.

Since July 9, the Government has tightened restrictions by extending them to direct manufacturers.
