A new format of anti-drug work, inter-agency cooperation, and the results of work over recent years were discussed at the meeting of the Presidium of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, dedicated to drug addiction prevention.
Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and leading public figures, headed by the chairman of the council Anatoly Kuchereno, not only reported on the events held and the indicators, but also sought truly effective tools to protect young people from drug addiction and related offenses.
Professor Vladimir Volokh of the Department of Public Administration and Political Technologies at the State University of Management drew the attention of those gathered to the potential effectiveness of joint work between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in building a unified system of preventive work and fostering law-abiding behavior among youth.
Acting Chief of the Main Directorate for Drug Control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Major General Kirill Smurov, noted the effectiveness of involving members of the Public Councils under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and its territorial bodies in anti-drug work.
“Undoubtedly, the practical experience possessed by the specialists who are members of public councils will help to conduct an effective information campaign aimed at fostering a strong negative attitude among young people towards participating in drug distribution,” Kirill Smurov noted.
We also discussed the new format of anti-drug work, implemented for the second year – advertising campaigns on the Internet using banners in the street art aesthetic, which is understandable to modern youth.
The chairman of the council, Anatoly Kucheren, agreed on the importance of prevention in educational institutions and the search for new work methods that influence the younger generation.
“I think it is necessary to draw the attention of our colleagues, including those in territorial public councils, to visiting educational institutions, communicating with young people, students, and schoolchildren,” Anatoly Kucherenko concluded.
