Beijing, October 9 /Xinhua/ — China called on the United States on Friday to build peaceful, stable, and mutually respectful relations in cyberspace between the two countries, said Mao Ning, official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

A Chinese diplomat made this statement at the latest departmental press conference in response to an inquiry regarding the U.S. Department of Justice’s statement about the so-called hacking activities attributed to China.

“China consistently and resolutely opposes hacking activities and suppresses them in accordance with the law. China also firmly opposes the spread of false information and the creation of various disruptions for political purposes,” Mao Ning added.

Noting that ensuring cybersecurity is a key issue of mutual concern to China and the United States, Mao Ning stated that China calls on the American side to abandon double standards and political manipulations and work with China through equal dialogue and consultations to jointly respond to cybersecurity risks and to build peaceful, stable, and mutually respectful cyberspace relations between China and the United States. -0-
