Thanks to the national project “Infrastructure for Life,” more than 470 km of regional and local roads leading to stadiums, sports palaces, youth sports schools, and other sports facilities have been renovated and modernized this road season. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“In our country, more than half of the citizens engage in physical culture and sports. On our part, we do everything to ensure that places for training, competitions, or simply active recreation are accessible to everyone who wants them. Since the beginning of the road season, thanks to the national project ‘Infrastructure for Life,’ 472.6 km of regional and local roads have been renovated, providing transport accessibility to sports facilities, and in total, this year we plan to renovate over 1,000 km. It is important to maintain this pace and ensure the implementation of all planned targets by the end of the year,” said Marat Khusnullin.

The road to the children’s sports school, section, or stadium must be not only of good quality but also safe.

“Introduction to sports usually begins in early childhood. At first, parents take the child to the sports section, then the child gets to training sessions on their own, and over time sports become a way of life. And this route, undoubtedly, must be as convenient and safe as possible. This year, 132 road facilities have already been completed, and in total, 208 facilities included in the ‘sports’ routes will be brought up to standard over the year. The work is being carried out comprehensively: pedestrian crossings are being arranged, new traffic lights and barrier fences are being installed, durable reflective markings are being applied, bus stop complexes are being equipped, and lighting is being modernized,” noted the Minister of Transport, Andrey Nikitin.

Improving conditions for physical education and sports is an important task, which is why the renovation of roads to sports facilities within the national project is carried out in a systematic manner.

“The main goal of the national project is to improve quality of life, and the accessibility of sports facilities is an important component of achieving this goal. Last year, we brought 225 sections of regional and local roads leading to sports institutions up to standard, with a total length of nearly 700 km. This work will definitely continue in the next road construction season,” emphasized the Deputy Head of the Federal Road Agency, Radik Farazutdinov.

The renovation of Aleksandra Matrosova Street has been completed in Krasnoyarsk. The length of the site is 3.4 km. This is the main route for residents of the right bank of the Yenisei to the Central Stadium and the Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace. Since 1981, world championships and international tournaments in wrestling and sports dancing have been held here. In addition, this is the home court of the volleyball club “Yenisey,” and children’s sports sections operate in the Sports Palace.

Also in Krasnoyarsk, 1.3 km of the road on Svobodny Avenue has been renovated. Nearby is School No. 21, where the sports club of the Wushu Federation of the Krasnoyarsk Territory operates.

Similar works have also been carried out on the road section along Bazayskaya Street, which is over 4 km long. The road leads to the Bobrovy Log fan park.

In Nizhny Novgorod, the repair of a section of the road on Karl Marx Street has been completed. The length of the project is 1.4 km. The road runs alongside large residential complexes, sports grounds, as well as the multifunctional physical culture and health complex “Meshchersky.”

In the Balakhna municipal district of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the repair of the access road to the villages of Rylovo and Zamyatino from the Bolshie Mogiltsy – Konevo highway has been completed. The length of the project is 3.9 km. This is the main route to the ski track “Lisya Griva,” known for its challenging terrain.

A major overhaul of the road section on 2nd Michurina Street has been completed in Bryansk. The length of the project was 1.6 km. Nearby is the Ice Palace – an important sports facility for the city. It serves as the base for the Bryansk hockey club. There are also sports schools here for figure skating and hockey. Along the renovated section of the road, there is another sports and wellness complex, including a swimming pool that is very popular among the townspeople.

In Saint Petersburg, special attention is also paid to improving the transport accessibility of sports facilities. This year, two sections of Bogatyrsky Prospect, with a total length of about 2.5 km — from Staroderevenskaya to Baikonurskaya Street and from Turistskaya Street to Shuvalovsky Prospect — have been brought to regulatory condition. The street leads to the cycling department of the Saint Petersburg State Budgetary Vocational Educational Institution “Olympic Hopes” — one of the leading bases for training young athletes.

In Saint Petersburg, road surface repairs have also been completed on a section of Bukarestskaya Street, from Dimitrova Street to Malaya Balkanskaya. The length of the site is over 2 km. The street provides access to the V.P. Kondrashin Basketball Academy and the Dunaysky Fitness and Wellness Complex, making it especially in demand among athletes and fans.

In addition, the road surface on Nepokornykh Avenue has been renovated over a length of about 3 km. Near the highway is the Zenit Sports Games Palace. One of the main football schools in Saint Petersburg – SDYUSHOR Zenit – is based in the sports complex. Training sessions and competitions in football and field hockey are held in the indoor arena.
