Beijing, October 6 /Xinhua/ — China continues to firmly oppose the U.S. selling arms to the Chinese region of Taiwan. This was stated on Tuesday by the official spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Jiakun, emphasizing that China’s position is consistent and clear.

Guo Jiakun made a corresponding statement commenting on media reports that Taiwan recently received two F-16V fighters purchased from the United States, and plans to receive another 64 such aircraft by the end of the year.

As noted by the official representative of the Chinese foreign affairs department, the American side must implement the important agreements reached at the meeting of the two heads of state, strictly adhere to the one-China principle and the provisions of the three joint China-U.S. communiqués, and also exercise caution on the Taiwan issue.

“The Taiwan issue falls within China’s internal affairs; its resolution is exclusively the business of the Chinese themselves, admitting no external interference,” emphasized Guo Jiakun.
