Six years ago, the technologically advanced train “Moscow-2020” first ran on the Circle Line of the metro. Sergey Sobyanin mentioned this on his channel in in the “Max” messenger.

“This event took place in October 2020, and by June 2021 we had completely upgraded the Circle Line fleet. Currently, 280 cars of this series operate on it. When creating the model, the wishes of passengers and drivers were taken into account. The changes can be appreciated from the first minutes of the trip,” wrote the Mayor of Moscow.

Doors and passages between the carriages, 1.6 meters wide, allow freer movement with luggage or a stroller, and thanks to the through passage, passenger flows are evenly distributed throughout the train. Each carriage is equipped with two powerful air conditioning units.

Enlarged screens with interactive maps and route displays help to navigate the way and prepare for transfers in advance. The lighting changes depending on the time of day: in the morning, the light is cooler and sets a working mood, while in the evening, it is warmer and switches to relaxation.

“Today, the capital’s metro is № 1 in train upgrades among the metros of Europe and America. In 2010, the share of new trains was about 13 percent, now — more than 80 percent. According to transport strategy, by 2030 this figure will exceed 90 percent,” noted Sergey Sobyanin.
