Since the beginning of the special military operation (SMO), Moscow’s public advisers have delivered more than 1,500 tons of humanitarian aid to frontline fighters and civilians in border regions. This was reported by Marina Prozorova, Deputy Head of the Moscow Department of Territorial Executive Authorities.

“Public advisors are caring Muscovites from all districts of the capital who have actively supported the defenders of the Fatherland since the beginning of the Special Military Operation. Among the items sent are 960 thousand trench candles and 120 thousand camouflage nets,” noted Marina Prozorova.

Caring city residents not only collect necessary items but also make them themselves. Volunteers knit socks, mittens, hats, sweaters, and also produce sleeping bags. They have sent more than 40,000 warm items to the front line.

In each district, activists unite into communities that organize patriotic and humanitarian actions. For example, one of the groups in the Eastern Administrative District created the charitable foundation “Preobrazhenskaya Help.” Thanks to donations, medicines, essential items, a UAZ vehicle, and other equipment were sent to the front.

In the east of the capital, at the initiative of a public advisor, the museum “Heroes and Feats” was also opened. It is dedicated to different generations of defenders of the Motherland — from the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War to our contemporaries. Military personnel and their families contribute items from the front line, personal belongings, including combat awards and uniforms, to the exhibition.

In the Western District, advisors opened courses to train nurses for helping wounded soldiers. Nearly 200 volunteers have completed the training so far. Currently, they assist at the N.N. Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital and its two branches. The project is implemented under the auspices of the Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow of the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

In the Central District, there is a volunteer club called “Pomogayki,” as well as the projects “SVOboda tvorchestva” and “Masterskaya OS.” At weekly meetings, participants weave camouflage nets, make trench candles, and sew underwear. For holidays, volunteers prepare greeting cards with words of gratitude and send their products to the front line along with humanitarian cargo.

In addition, caring residents regularly visit schools and orphanages in border areas with cultural and theatrical programs and gifts, and support refugees in temporary accommodation centers.

Public advisors have been a link between residents and executive authorities for more than 10 years. They help neighbors, implement their own projects, conduct creative workshops, sports training, group excursions, and engage in charity.
