An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

How many words does it take to describe the Russian character? Sometimes one proverb is enough. In just a few words, people managed to encapsulate observations accumulated over generations: about love and separation, work and celebration, friendship, luck, stubbornness, wit, and the ability to approach life circumstances with humor.

The new program of the folk group “YaR-marka” titled “Colors of the Fair,” which will be performed on the stage of the Folklore Center “Moscow,” appeals to Russian proverbs and sayings that connect the musical action. Folk wisdom meets the song tradition, and familiar expressions help to hear anew the stories passed down through songs for centuries.

Russian folk and Cossack songs will be performed on stage: “Valenki,” “Zapletisya pleten,” “Kukushechka,” “Porushka-Paranya,” “Osedlayu koney,” and others. Different in mood, they form a musical palette of Russian folklore, where lyricism and daring, mischief and reflection, humor and strong emotions coexist.

Artistic Director — People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Devyatov.
