More than 60 city transport routes connect the capital with eight urban districts of the Moscow region. They were introduced as part of the “Moscow — region” project, which has been implemented since 2025. This was reported by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.

‘By the order of Sergey Sobyanin, we continue to improve the quality of transport services for the residents of the largest agglomeration in our country. The ‘Moscow — region’ project integrates routes that connect the nearest Moscow suburbs with the capital. Currently, more than 60 such routes are in operation, served by over 470 modern Russian-made buses. These vehicles were specially purchased for this project. Thanks to the increased carrying capacity, trips between regions are becoming more comfortable and convenient,’ said Maxim Liksutov.

The quality of transport services within the project is regularly improved. Carrying capacity has increased by 32 percent: large buses of a higher class, which run more frequently, are deployed on the most in-demand routes.

Bus update

One of the main changes within the project is the update of the rolling stock. Before the integration of the routes into the capital’s transport system, the share of large-class buses on them was 34 percent. Today, this figure has reached 82 percent. Thanks to this, more passengers can use the most in-demand routes, and the carrier uses the existing system more efficiently.

About 600 buses of large, medium, and small classes were purchased for operation on the project’s routes. More than 470 of them have already started service on suburban lines. The result was a 34 percent increase in passenger traffic.

Movement intervals

Along with the fleet update, the route schedules are changing. During peak hours, buses run on average 15 percent more frequently, and on certain routes, intervals have been reduced up to fourfold.

The operating hours of the routes have changed as well. Previously, buses operated for an average of 17 hours a day, now up to 20 hours. On certain routes, the departure time of the first trip was changed from 06:00 to 05:00, and the end time was shifted from 23:00 to 01:00. Using the buses has become more convenient for passengers who go to work early in the morning or return home late in the evening.

More than 700 new buses and electric buses have been added to Mosgortrans fleets since the beginning of the yearA fixed fare will apply on two new routes of the “Moscow — region” project

One of the key objectives of the project is to ensure convenient communication between the settlements of the Moscow region and Moscow.

New and integrated routes connect the Moscow suburbs with metro stations, Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), Moscow Central Circle (MCC), as well as with city surface transport routes.
