On September 30, an open lecture titled “Economics in Numbers: Why It Is Important to Manage Inflation” was held at Novosibirsk State University. It was delivered by an advisor to the Chairman of the Bank of Russia, candidate of economic sciences. Kirill Viktorovich Tremasov. The event opened the two-day advanced training program “Monetary Policy: Basic Knowledge and Educational Practices in the Training of Socio-Economic Profile Specialists,” organized by the Siberian Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia and by the Economics Faculty of NSU.

The lecture gathered in the auditorium 442 of the lecture hall building not only program participants — instructors of socio-economic disciplines from universities in Siberia and the Far East — but also students of NSU. As Kirill Tremasov noted, this is his third presentation within the walls of Novosibirsk State University. According to him, interest in the topic of monetary policy and inflation remains steadily high in the university environment — this is also confirmed by the experience of previous meetings.

— I am especially pleased to be at NSU again. Monetary policy is a field that concerns everyone: from students to professors. Inflation is not just numbers in the news, but a crucial indicator that affects the decisions of people, businesses, and the government. Our task is to ensure that students understand it not only through textbooks but through real mechanisms that operate in the economy. I am glad that this is my third time speaking at NSU: there are strong professors and engaged students here. Over these two days, we will together analyze how monetary policy is structured, why inflation is important, and how to incorporate these topics into the educational process. — addressed the audience Kirill Tremasov.

The advanced training program, inaugurated by a lecture, will last two days. On the first day, in addition to Kirill Tremasov’s presentation, lectures from other experts of the Bank of Russia are scheduled on macroeconomic forecasts, current research in the field of CPI and communication, as well as a panel discussion dedicated to the training of specialists in the socio-economic profile. The second day of the program will be devoted to teaching practices and scientific work — participants will continue working in seven thematic sections.

The geography of the program participants turned out to be wide: representatives from more than ten cities of Siberia, the Urals, and the Far East arrived at NSU — from Omsk and Tyumen to Irkutsk and Chita.

— We have a very representative group of participants, – noted the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of NSU Svetlana Sablina. — Teachers who have been working with students in this field for a long time will exchange experience and gain new knowledge, which they will then pass on to students. You have scheduled not only business events but also a cultural program. If the weather is good, be sure to climb to the dome of the administrative building — from there you will see our beautiful autumn Akademgorodok from a bird’s-eye view and understand that its heart is Novosibirsk State University.

— Over the next two days, we will be discussing a complex topic — monetary policy and the possibilities of incorporating this topic into the educational process, — emphasized the deputy head of the Siberian Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia Marina Asaralieva. — We will show why it is important to be concerned about this topic, to talk about it and to educate our students. We will share experiences and discuss approaches to preparing students in economics specialties. I am sincerely grateful to the leadership of Novosibirsk State University for organizing the event and providing the venue.

The advanced training program is implemented within the framework of long-term cooperation between the Faculty of Economics of NSU and the Siberian Main Directorate of the Bank of Russia. Every year, the regulator’s employees deliver about eight to ten lectures at the university, and students participate in the special course “Activities of the Bank of Russia in the center and regions.”

For teachers, participation in the program became an opportunity not only to update their knowledge but also to exchange methodological developments with colleagues from other regions. For students, Kirill Tremasov’s open lecture is a chance to hear about monetary policy firsthand from one of the key experts of the Bank of Russia.
