Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and VK Tech signed a memorandum of cooperation at the VK WorkSpace Conf 2026 conference. Plans include conducting joint research and developing digital solutions for science and higher education.

SPbPU and VK Tech plan to combine the university’s scientific expertise with the company’s experience in developing and implementing digital solutions. The cooperation will involve research and development in the fields of artificial intelligence, data analysis, high-performance and cloud computing, as well as information security.

Cooperation with VK Tech will allow us to connect scientific and educational work with the objectives of a technology company. We plan to develop joint research and give students the opportunity to gain experience in solving current problems. For the university’s daily operations, we have also chosen VK WorkSpace mail and disk,

We, together with SPbPU, plan to exchange experience in the digitalization of science and higher education, jointly participate in the development of digital platforms and standards for scientific and educational activities. A separate direction is educational programs, internships, and scientific-practical events: students will gain practical experience with real tasks, and we will receive feedback from those who will build Russian IT systems, noted Pyotr Shcheglov, head of productivity services at VK Tech.

In addition, for the daily work of students and staff, the Polytechnic University chose the cloud version of VK WorkSpace from VK Tech. The switch to the new corporate mail at Polytech will take place on the night of September 30 to October 1. Andrey Lyamin explained what this will give to the polytechnic community.

“We are transitioning to more reliable and modern technologies,— said the vice-rector. —VK WorkSpace provides not only mail but also a whole platform. It becomes possible to use a drive, store documents in the cloud, edit them online, collaborate on them, and schedule meetings. Since we use domestic technologies, the mail will become more secure. Until now, we were on Microsoft technologies, searched for a partner for many years, tried different platforms, and chose VK WorkSpace based on a combination of characteristics. Along with the mail, new services will appear, and our infrastructure will get a complete look. We have done a lot to transition to the new operating system Astra Linux, the “R7-Office” package, a new VKS system, and have now switched to a new platform for communication between employees.

Andrey Lyamin clarified that when switching routes, all emails from the old mail will be preserved: This was the most difficult part and took a lot of time, but all the mail has been migrated to the new platform, and not a single email will be lost. Also, it was unacceptable for us to change the domain, so the mail name will remain the same.
