Order dated September 24, 2026 No. 2631-r
The government continues to promote the creation of advanced developments for various sectors of the economy. To ensure the active application of fundamental research in priority and high-tech areas, a Concept for the development of mathematical sciences for the period until 2030 and with a perspective until 2036 has been prepared. The order approving it was signed by the Chairman of the Government, Mikhail Mishustin.
The goal of the concept is to achieve and strengthen Russia’s position in the field of mathematical sciences to ensure technological leadership, competitiveness, independence, and state security.
Among the main tasks of the document are the development of unified mechanisms for determining priority areas of fundamental and applied scientific research in mathematics and the creation of conditions for their implementation, ensuring the accelerated introduction of new mathematical methods into high-tech economic sectors, and the development of high-performance computing infrastructure.
Within the framework of the concept, it is planned to strengthen the network of world-class mathematical centers and regional scientific and educational platforms so that scientists, young specialists, students, and graduate students can use modern infrastructure, exchange experiences, solve current problems, and make breakthrough discoveries.
Special attention will be paid to the training of qualified personnel. To this end, the concept proposes to develop state support measures for talented students, graduate students, and scientists, to attract schoolchildren who show abilities and interest in mathematics to enroll in educational programs for training mathematics teachers, and to improve the system of professional training and additional professional education of mathematics teachers.
In addition, it is planned to provide Russian scientists with access to scientific and technical information contained in international information-analytical systems of scientific citation, to expand centralized subscriptions to scientific publications, to develop international scientific and technical cooperation, and international integration in the field of mathematical and related sciences.
Speaking about the new concept at the meeting with the deputy prime ministers on September 28, Mikhail Mishustin noted that its implementation will open additional opportunities not only for industry, medicine, and agriculture, but also for energy, aircraft manufacturing, and the space industry, and will help increase the competitiveness and efficiency of the economy.
