First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov paid a working visit to the Republic of Abkhazia. During the trip, he was received by President Badra Gunba, with whom he discussed the main directions of the development of trade, economic, and cooperative ties.

“Your visit today is very important to us. Interaction between Abkhazia and the Russian Federation is developing very dynamically in all areas: in the military sphere, cooperation in the economy, and the social sector. I would like to thank you for the cooperation and note that thanks to the momentum set by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, for many years we have been building allied relations that are being implemented in practical terms,” said Badra Gunba.

The parties noted the importance of expanding business ties, which is facilitated by the regular holding of business missions and other events involving Russian and Abkhaz entrepreneurs. As an example, the international investment forum “Abkhazia – Investment in the Future,” held in April of this year in Sukhumi, was mentioned.

“This topic sounds especially relevant considering the joint work being carried out by our countries to create an effective, investment-attractive economic model for Abkhazia. This, in particular, positively affects the bilateral trade turnover, which has increased almost two and a half times over the past five years,” emphasized First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov.

Special attention was given to opportunities for increasing trade turnover, including through expanding supplies of Abkhazian fruit and vegetable products to the Russian market.

In addition, the First Deputy Prime Minister handed over 30 units of equipment to the Abkhaz side, including school buses, ambulances, mini-loaders, universal municipal vehicles, fire tankers, fire rescue motorcycles, and multipurpose boats. The delivery of the equipment was organized through the joint efforts of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and the All-Russian People’s Front as part of the implementation of directives from the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin. All the handed-over equipment will be put into operation in the near future.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Government of Russia, together with the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, took a walk along the Sukhum embankment and visited the “Brekhalovka” café – one of the city’s iconic spots.

At the conclusion of the working visit, Denis Manturov visited the wine-making plant “Achba Yashta” and the dairy enterprise “Milk Yard,” where he familiarized himself with the production facilities.
