On September 24, ticket sales will begin for the 5th Moscow Winter Music Festival “Zaryadye”. It will take place in the “Zaryadye” concert hall, overseen by the city Department of Culture, from December 3 to 31. It will feature Valery Gergiev, Denis Matsuev, Hibla Gerzmava, Igor Butman, Nikolai Lugansky, and many other cultural figures.
Leading creative ensembles from across the country will perform on stage, including the symphony orchestras of the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre, the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, and the State Academic Symphony Orchestra named after E.F. Svetlanov, State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan and others.
The festival’s program includes symphonic and chamber concerts of classical music, jazz and ethno programs, opera productions, and interactive events for children and family audiences. The main theme will be various images of winter — from a magical atmosphere and fairy tales familiar from childhood to the harsh element and dramatic sound.
Richard Wagner’s romantic opera “Lohengrin” in a production by Konstantin Balakin will be shown again in the Zaryadye Hall. The stage will feature world opera stars Ivan Gyangazov (tenor) and Elena Stikhina (soprano). The musical director and conductor is Ivan Rudin.
Among other festival projects are a concert by the choir of the Moscow Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhovo, Christmas music by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, Johann Sebastian Bach, and other composers, symphonic works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky performed by pianist Philipp Kopachevsky and the State Academic Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, as well as other events.
A separate place will be occupied by programs for young listeners — the vocal program of the Arielle ensemble, the concert “New Year’s Miracle” by the “Aurora” choir with Elizaveta Arzamasova, the symphonic fairy tale “The 12 Months” with Agrippina Steklova, and the fairy-tale extravaganza “The Nutcracker” by the art project “Contrabass Quartet.”
