More than 100 participants of the international competition by the Mayor of Moscow “Leaders of Digital Transformation” and students of specialized colleges visited the offices of technology companies. The tours were held with the support of the “Day Without Turnstiles” project.
Young professionals and students got acquainted with the corporate culture of companies, learned more about IT professions, modern technologies, and career opportunities. For participants in the “Digital Transformation Leaders” competition, visiting offices became part of the hackathon preparation — they were able to better understand the business context of the tasks and the specifics of working in technology companies. Students explored areas for development in IT and received information about internships.
“For the first time as part of the preparation for the ‘Digital Transformation Leaders’ competition, we organized tours for hackathon participants as well as for students of specialized educational institutions to partner companies. More than 100 people were able to see the work of technological teams, communicate with business representatives, and learn about in-demand professions and career opportunities. It is important to us that the competition is not only a platform for solving technological tasks but also an opportunity to better understand the environment in which they will have to work, as well as to directly get acquainted with companies in the industry,” she said
Maria Bogomolova, Deputy Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the City of Moscow.
A tour of Rostelecom’s IT school allowed young developers to get a glimpse into the work environment of one of the country’s largest IT companies and learn more about modern digital technologies. For the corporation, such projects are an opportunity to find promising talent and prepare them for real market challenges. The introduction to VK Tech began with studying the company’s product portfolio. The participants of the tour learned about five key areas of work — from cloud infrastructure and communication services to artificial intelligence technologies, data analytics systems, and tools for team management. In addition, they were told about the brand’s history and career opportunities for young professionals.
Victoria Tazina, a student at Entrepreneurship College No. 11 and a hackathon participant, shared that she was interested to see the work of one of the largest Russian corporate software developers and to understand how specialists interact when solving real tasks. According to her, immersing herself in the company’s atmosphere increased her interest in the profession. In the future, she would like to work in such a team.
At Positive Technologies, guests were told about technologies for protecting businesses and government organizations from digital threats. Experts also explained which skills are in demand in cybersecurity and how to develop in the profession.
“We were shown the serious challenges that professionals face every day, and helped to understand the nuances of the profession. I have already decided that next year I will definitely participate in the hackathon to test my skills. This time, the company offered a very interesting task on reverse engineering, and I would like to try my hand at such a project,” shared Yaroslav Boykov, a third-year student at Automation and Information Technology College No. 20.
This year, participants of the international competition “Leaders of Digital Transformation” will have to solve 20 applied problems posed by large companies and metropolitan agencies. The coding phase of the hackathon began at the robotics center “Creators.” For two weeks, developer teams will create their digital products.
