An 8-kilometer section of the R-255 “Siberia” highway from the 65th to the 73rd kilometer – between the settlements of Alaevo in the Kemerovo region and Kurlek in the Tomsk region – has been repaired by the Federal Road Agency. The work was carried out under the national project “Infrastructure for Life” and was completed ahead of schedule. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin.

“The R-255 ‘Siberia’ highway is one of the key highways in Western Siberia. It connects the Kemerovo and Tomsk regions, providing access to Tomsk – a city that attracts tourists and students from across the country. We continue to bring this road up to regulatory standards. This is important for improving road safety, regional connectivity, logistics development, and business activity growth. On the section from kilometer 65 to 73, the repair was planned to be completed in 2027, but the road workers managed to finish it in three months and delivered the project ahead of schedule. The pavement structure has been completely rebuilt, shoulders have been reinforced, and the road markings and infrastructure elements have been updated,” said Marat Khusnullin.

On the approach to Tomsk, another 7.7 km are being renovated – from the village of Kaltay to the entrance to the regional center (section from the 110th to the 117th km). On 5.5 km, road surface deformations have already been eliminated and wearing layers laid, with permanent horizontal road markings to be applied shortly. The remaining work will be completed next year. On this section with high traffic intensity, road workers mainly worked at night. At the same time, ahead-of-schedule progress was ensured here as well.

Thus, under the repair program for 2026–2027, about 16 km of the federal highway R-255 “Siberia” in the Tomsk region will be restored to regulatory condition.
