Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova took part in a ceremonial event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the founding of the State Scientific Center – the Federal Medical Biophysical Center named after A.I. Burnazyan of the FMBA of Russia.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the significant contribution of specialists from the A.I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center to the development of Russian healthcare.

“The 80th anniversary of the A.I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Center is truly a landmark event in the history of Russian healthcare, medicine, and medical science. The best traditions developed at the center over these years define the future of Russian medicine. I want to thank Veronika Igorevna Skvortsova, the entire team of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency, and the Burnazyan Center for preserving traditions while progressively developing. Special words of gratitude go to the specialists who performed a genuine professional feat in eliminating the medical consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. This year marks 40 years since that tragedy, and of course, we remember with deep respect the scientists, doctors, and nursing staff who promptly stood in the way of the radiation threat, diagnosed and treated radiation injuries, and saved lives under the most difficult conditions. Their dedication, competence, and courage will forever remain an example of devotion to the profession,” said Tatyana Golikova.– Dear colleagues, thank you for your work, for your dedication to professional duty, for your willingness to make difficult decisions, to master the most complex tasks, and to preserve human compassion, and most importantly – human life. Happy holiday!

She emphasized that today the Burnazyan Center is not only a leading institution in the field of biophysics, but also a modern multidisciplinary complex developing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, high-tech surgery, transplantology, neurosurgery, and oncology. It comprises dozens of laboratories and hundreds of scientific staff, with about 20 patents registered annually. The institution is an active participant in all national projects and advanced developments being implemented in the country.

The head of Russia’s FMBA, Veronika Skvortsova, emphasized the center’s leading role within the Federal Medical-Biological Agency system: “Today, the A.I. Burnazyan FMBC is a powerful cluster, a scientific-production, scientific-clinical, and educational center. The entire team—2,200 people—forms a unified, coordinated unit that not only conducts scientific research but also carries out the strongest clinical work in several high-tech centers that are part of the multidisciplinary clinic of the A.I. Burnazyan Center. One of the key areas of work is the development of nuclear medicine and radiopharmacy. The in-house production of radiopharmaceuticals has become a natural continuation of the center’s scientific and clinical potential. The Burnazyan FMBC possesses outstanding expertise in the fields of transplantology, traumatology, orthopedics, and vascular surgery.”

The FMBC hosts the Center for Biomedical and Additive Technologies, a new burn center, a cryobank for vascular allografts, a Disaster Medicine Center with medical evacuation, a large mobile hospital, and all necessary transport services. These capabilities are constantly being developed to ensure the fastest possible arrival of highly qualified surgical and resuscitation care anywhere in the country where it is needed.

Within the center’s structure, the Medical and Biological University of Innovation and Continuous Professional Education has been established, where annually over 600 residents are trained in 76 specialties, as well as more than 100 postgraduate students and over 3,000 attendees across all areas of retraining and advanced training.
