Bank lending to companies (including bonds) increased by 1.3% in August (+1.5% in July), with the growth evenly distributed among borrowers from different sectors. On an annual basis, the portfolio grew by 13.4% (+13.8% the previous month).

According to preliminary data, in August, the population’s mortgage debt (+0.5%) grew at nearly the same pace as in the previous month (+0.4%). The share of mortgages issued with government support increased slightly – to about 56% (52% in July). The year-on-year growth was 10.2% (+10.7% the previous month).

The growth of the consumer loan portfolio accelerated to +1.7% (+1.1% in July). Such dynamics are typical for August due to vacation spending and back-to-school preparations. On a yearly basis, the portfolio increased by 3.9% (+2.5% in July).

Household deposits in banks slightly decreased (-0.2% after +0.3% in July), which can partly be explained by high consumer activity. Deposits of legal entities increased by 1.9% (+0.6% the previous month), mainly due to oil and gas and energy companies.

The sector’s net profit in August remained almost unchanged, amounting to 440 billion rubles. Banks systematically increased reserves on the corporate portfolio, while dividends from subsidiaries grew.
