Female students of Polytech, who won the grand prize of the intellectual contest of the SPbPU History Museum “Do you know the history of your alma mater?” — a trip to Kazan, have returned from an exciting journey. The girls visited Kazan Federal University, the Chak-Chak Museum, the Kazan Kremlin, and the observation deck of the “Kazan” Family Center “Chasha,” getting acquainted with the history, culture, and traditions of Tatarstan.
The contest “Do you know the history of alma mater?” is aimed at helping students learn more about the history of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, its traditions, outstanding scientists, and significant events. The winners’ trip is a continuation of educational work, an opportunity to expand knowledge about another region, and simply have a good time.
An important part of the program was the visit to Kazan Federal University. The female students visited the university museum, got acquainted with its history, learned about scientific schools, renowned scientists, and outstanding people associated with the university. The knowledge gained helped to form an understanding of how major educational centers in Russia develop, see what unites them and what distinguishes them.
The cultural program continued at the Chak-Chak Museum, where the polytechnic students were told about the traditional Tatar treat, as well as the features of everyday life and culture of Kazan. Another important part of the trip was a walk around the territory of the Kazan Kremlin — one of the main historical and architectural complexes of the city.
In addition, the female students visited the observation deck “Chasha” of the Kazan Family Center, which offers a panoramic view of the city. Thus, the program combined historical and cultural sites with the opportunity to see modern Kazan from above.
The trip gave the students the opportunity not only to celebrate their success but also to delve deeper into the history and cultural heritage of Russia. The new knowledge and vivid impressions organically complemented the competition dedicated to their alma mater.
First-year students can begin their acquaintance with the history and cultural space of Polytech right now by participating in the St. Petersburg Polytechnic Museum of History contest “Ignite Knowledge.” Participants will face tasks related to the university’s history, its traditions, and iconic places. The contest helps first-year students learn more about Polytech in a playful and informative way and become part of its cultural space. Detailed information about the participation conditions and tasks is published in the official community of the Polytech Museum.
