The educational section remains one of the most in-demand areas of the project “Moscow Longevity In this academic year, senior citizens of the city will be able to attend lectures and seminars at leading universities in the country, including Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) and the Stroganov Russian State University of Art and Industry (RSUAI), as well as undergo a professional retraining program. This was announced by the Minister of the Moscow Government, head of the city’s Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. Evgeniy Struzhak.

“Lifelong education has already become an integral part of modern life, as well as an important component of active longevity. The ‘Moscow Longevity’ project develops this direction together with 13 leading universities of the country: Lomonosov Moscow State University, Higher School of Economics, Sechenov University, Moscow City Pedagogical University, Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Arts and Industry, and others. Participants can once again find themselves in legendary lecture halls, attend lectures and workshops, and within the framework of the ‘Silver University’ — master a new profession — from tour guide to graphic designer and internet marketer. After completing the courses, many become passionate about new activities, continue their career path, or pass on knowledge to others. The demand for educational courses remains consistently high, and by the end of the year, it is planned to open several more groups within the project jointly with the capital’s universities,” noted Evgeny Struzhak.

Intellectual clubs and thematic lecture halls

The educational program of the project is implemented based on 13 universities, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Sechenov University, Moscow Polytechnic University, the Higher School of Economics, and the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts. Today, more than 80 groups are already working within the framework of the project across various fields.

Thus, participants of the “Moscow Longevity” program are invited to the history lovers’ club, organized by the History Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The lectures are dedicated to reforms and revolutions in world history from the Neolithic era to the 20th century.

At the Faculty of Philosophy of Lomonosov Moscow State University, two lecture series are given for participants of “Moscow Longevity” — “History of Religions in Russia” and “Man in the World of Meanings.” The first is dedicated to the religious landscape of modern Russia: Christian denominations, Buddhism, Judaism, and Islam. The second covers a wide range of topics — from fundamental questions of existence to philosophical reflections on culinary art. Each course consists of 15 lectures, each lasting two academic hours.

The Stroganov Russian State University of Arts and Industry offers participants of the project classes in watercolor, applied painting, and quick drawing from life. The Russian University of Traditional Arts and Crafts provides elderly Muscovites the opportunity to learn ceramics, satin and cross-stitch embroidery, and silk painting.

In addition to lectures and master classes, “Moscow Longevity” offers foreign language studies, psychological training, financial literacy courses, activities in intellectual clubs dedicated to health and sports, as well as programs in technology and multimedia.

“Silver University”

The professional retraining program “Silver University” is available to participants of the “Moscow Longevity” program. It is implemented on the basis of two partner universities: the Moscow City Pedagogical University (MGPU) and Synergy University.

MGPU offers six professional retraining programs, including “Additional Education Teacher,” “Home Education and Upbringing (Governorship),” “Basics of Tutoring Activities,” “Secretary-Administrator,” “Tour Guiding,” and “Healthy Nutrition Specialist.” After six months of training, participants will receive certificates. The four-month program “Secretary-Administrator” involves issuing a qualification certificate for a worker or employee. Graduates will be able to find employment in their chosen field and continue developing in the new area.

Another partner university of the project is Synergy University. Here, four professional retraining programs are available for older students: “Junior Nurse,” “Graphic Design,” “Internet Marketing,” and “Website Creation and Web Design.” Graduates receive state-recognized diplomas.

In total, the university offers more than 25 programs for older residents of Moscow. Upon completion of their studies, they receive certificates from the university. Classes take place in five Synergy campuses located in the Southern, Northwestern, Northern, and Eastern administrative districts, so that as many participants as possible can conveniently attend the university courses.

Among the most popular courses are “Blogger: Basics of the Profession,” “Power of Thought: Developing Cognitive Abilities,” “Fundamentals of Applied Academic Painting,” and “Multimedia Technologies and Digital Art.” The program durations range from three to five months.

By the end of the year, it is planned to organize several more dozen intellectual clubs and general development courses in partnership with capital universities. You can register for retraining programs and classes on the mos.ru portal.
