More than 530 applications from 67 regions of Russia, as well as from Turkey and Tajikistan, were received for the IV Open Moscow Cyberathletics Championship. Following the competitive selection, 43 teams were formed, with 72 pilots competing, and 38 participants competing individually. The championship was held from September 12 to 14 at the Phoenix assistive technologies center at VDNKh.
The competitions were held in seven disciplines for users of prosthetics, exoskeletons, and electric wheelchairs. On special tracks simulating everyday situations, cyb-athletes performed routine daily tasks — from maneuvering in elevators and passing through doors to working with small objects — to demonstrate how technology enables people with disabilities to overcome everyday obstacles.
“These competitions showcase the pilots’ skills and allow engineers to test assistive technologies in real conditions. Feedback from users helps improve existing solutions and create new ones. This year, more than three thousand people attended the competition, indicating a growing interest in assistive technologies and their role in everyday life,” she said
Kristina Kostroma, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of Moscow.
Moreover, during the competition days, the championship became a leading expert platform. The business program included popular science lectures, podcasts with founders of technology startups, as well as pitch sessions with developers and manufacturers of wellness technologies and assistive solutions.
At the “Innovation Showcase” exhibition, guests could personally test cutting-edge devices: try a ski simulator for coordination training without going to the slopes, recharge in a sleep capsule, or try on a smart ring that tracks important health metrics. The exhibition featured over 100 innovative devices — from bionic prostheses and modern rehabilitation tools to neurointerfaces and solutions for improving healthy life expectancy.
At the end of the event, 21 finalists were awarded. The total prize fund of the championship amounted to 12.25 million rubles: gold medalists received one million rubles each, silver medalists received 500 thousand rubles each, and bronze medalists received 250 thousand rubles each.
