This year, on Panfilovsky Prospekt, traffic flow will be comprehensively improved as part of the beautification project based on the Center for Traffic Management’s plan. This was stated by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry. Maxim Liksutov.
“This year, as part of the improvements, we will comprehensively enhance traffic on Panfilovsky Prospect. There will be 11 new pedestrian crossings here, additional left-turns and U-turns. Lanes will be added in front of certain intersections. Thanks to these changes, residents’ daily routes will become more comfortable and safer, and drivers will save up to five minutes on their trips. We continue to make traffic in the capital faster and more convenient, as Sergey Sobyanin instructed within the framework of the transport development strategy up to 2030,” noted Maxim Liksutov.
Pedestrian crossings will appear, among other places, near public transport stops, residential areas, and major intersections. The locations were chosen considering existing routes, popular attraction points, and accident data. According to specialists’ calculations, the new crossings will help reduce the distance to stops, homes, and other district objects. In certain sections, pedestrians will be able to reach their destinations three to five minutes faster.
New traffic directions will be opened for motorists. They will be able to make turns and U-turns where such maneuvers were previously unavailable. In particular, at the intersection with Shcherbakov Street, a left turn from Panfilovsky Avenue onto Shcherbakov Street will be introduced, as well as a U-turn when traveling from Solnechnaya Alley towards the Kryukov Overpass. In the area of building 1205, a left turn to residential houses will be added. These measures will allow drivers to save up to five minutes on certain sections.
Another comprehensive change is planned in the area of building 2002. Here a new pedestrian crossing and a turnaround will appear. This will allow drivers heading towards Letchitsy Tarasova Street to turn around earlier, reducing detours and saving travel time. Additionally, the new scheme will help redistribute part of the traffic flow and reduce the load on the intersection of Panfilovsky Avenue with Kamenka Street.
Additional lanes will also appear before certain intersections. In particular, this solution is planned before the crossing with Andreevka Street. This will help increase the capacity of the sections and reduce traffic delays.
The new turnaround on Michurinsky Prospekt will help drivers save up to five minutesTwo dedicated lanes will appear at the intersection of Leningradskoye and Volokolamskoye highways
