Starting from September 17, applications for the annual volunteer teams competition will be accepted “The Kind Heart of the Capital”. The event brings together volunteer communities from schools, colleges, and universities, non-profit organizations (NPOs), city institutions, companies, and initiative groups of Muscovites. The main theme of the competition will be “Volunteering — the cultural code of a Muscovite.”
“In the capital, strong volunteer teams not only help the city but also create their own social initiatives. This year, the resource center ‘Mosvolonter’ is holding the competition for the 12th time. Participants will face seven nominations and four stages — from presenting their team to solving real social tasks of the partners. Over the entire history of the competition, more than 90,000 people have joined it,” she noted
Ekaterina Dragunova, Chairman of the Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy of the city of Moscow.
From school teams to initiative associations
All individuals over 14 years of age are invited to participate. The team composition must include from three to seven people. At the same time, one organization can submit an unlimited number of applications with different team members. Last season, the organizers received more than 310 applications.
This year, Muscovites have access to seven categories covering different communities of the capital’s volunteer movement. For educational institutions, there are categories “Good Team. School”, “Good Team. College”, and “Good Team. University”. Representatives of socially oriented NGOs can apply in the category “Good Team. SO NGO”, municipal institutions in the category “Good Team. City”, and companies in “Good Team. Company”. For initiative groups not affiliated with specific organizations, there is the nomination “Good Team. Community”.
Volunteer Code, “Dobrograd,” and the Captain’s Contest
The first qualifying stage called “Volunteer Code” will take place from September 17 to October 19. Teams will submit an application, prepare a presentation about the activities of their volunteer group for 2026, and publish an introductory post on the social network “VKontakte.” The main task for participants is to analyze the results of their work and tell about it in such a way that their example can inspire other Muscovites. The results of the first stage will be published on October 22.
On October 31, the second stage of “We Think” will be held in person — the business game “Create the world around you.” Teams will have to demonstrate knowledge in the field of volunteering, communication skills, and teamwork, jointly creating a conceptual “Dobrograd.” No more than 70 percent of teams from the total number of participants in each category will advance to the next stage. Results will be published on November 12.
The semifinal of “We Influence” will take place on November 28 in the form of a forum. Participants will go through a quest that includes tasks in 12 areas of volunteering. Teams will have to solve cases, participate in intellectual competitions, and provide volunteer assistance directly on the site. An additional challenge will be a creative task aimed at exchanging volunteer practices. A separate contest will be organized for team captains to assess their leadership qualities. The results of the semifinal will be announced on December 4.
The final stage of “Acting” will take place on December 12 and will be dedicated to project activities. Teams will receive real social cases from the contest partners — NGOs, schools, universities, business representatives, and government institutions — and will develop specific solutions for them.
The best ideas will be forwarded to organizations for further implementation. After the competition ends, the resource center “Mosvolonter” will provide post-project support to the winning teams to develop promising initiatives. The winners will be announced on December 16.
Bonuses for finalists and winners
All contest participants will receive certificates from the Mosvolunteer resource center. Additional opportunities are provided for the finalist teams: points when considering candidates for the Moscow Government’s Volunteer of Moscow distinction, a team photo session in the studio, and a set of souvenir products. Winners will be able to go on an internship in one of the regions of Russia, receive a promotional video about their team, and a statuette.
The organizer of the competition is the resource center “Mosvolonter” with the support of Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy of the City of Moscow. “Good Heart of the Capital” became a continuation of the “Moscow Volunteer” contest. Applications can be submitted from September 17 on site.
