Over 50,000 schoolchildren and college students from more than 500 educational institutions in the capital will simultaneously take part in an exercise session with famous athletes on September 22. This large-scale workout in this format will inaugurate the new season of school and student sports in Moscow for the first time. This was announced by the press service of the capital Department of Education and Science.
“Sports clubs in Moscow schools and colleges today bring together about 350 thousand kids. Students have access to classes in 67 disciplines. For the first time this year, the Moscow education warm-up will take place, with Olympic champions, world and European champions performing exercises alongside the children. The main venue will be school No. 2120, from where a live broadcast will be streamed,” the department’s press service said.
The online workout will begin at 10:00 and last for half an hour. The exercise session for viewers will be led by Nikita Kryukov, Olympic cross-country skiing champion, three-time world champion, and honored master of sports of Russia, and Oksana Yashankina, international class master of sports in artistic gymnastics, absolute Russian champion, and European champion. The broadcast will be joined by TV presenter Vasily Artemyev — ambassador of school sports in Moscow and a professional rugby player.
In schools and colleges, well-known athletes will also join the warm-up. For example, at school No. 1409, the warm-up will be led by Honored Master of Sports of Russia, Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, three-time world champion, and five-time European champion Artur Dalaloyan.
At the First Moscow Cadet Corps, the boys will train together with the Honored Master of Sports of Russia, silver and bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in water polo, Marat Zakirov.
At Cadet School No. 1784, the workout will be led by Varvara Zubova, an international-class Master of Sports of Russia, European champion, and winner of the European Youth Olympic Festival in artistic gymnastics.
Not only students but also their parents, teachers, and everyone interested will be able to join the group exercise. No prior registration will be required for this. The broadcast will be available on Moscow Education page on the social network “VKontakte.”
